AN ADDRESS PRESENTED BY THE HEAD TEACHER COLLEGE OF SCIENCE, AFAHA OKU, UYO. ON THE OCCASION OF THE SEND-FORTH/PRIZE-GIVING DAY CELEBRATION OF THE 2015/2016 FINAL YEAR STUDENTs

The Director, Principal, Board of Management College of Science.
The Parents,
Distinguished Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today marks another milestone in the history of this school as we embarks on the send forth/prize-giving day activities for 2015/2016 academic session. As i look around and see you in this great assemblage of eminent and distinguished personalities, I am encouraged. I therefore, on behalf of the Board of management, administration, staff and students of this school, welcome you to this great occasion.

Graduating Students
May I use this opportunity to remind the students graduating from this citadel of learning that calling this event a send forth and graduation ceremony at the time is a deliberate attempt to bring two points to your focus. One, being a secondary level student, we have prepared you to go forth and attain high academic levels without looking back. Second, we are confident that each of you today  have successfully complete the series of learning required in secondary school and  will pass the senior secondary certificate examination taken without coming back for any make-up. This is our reason for graduating you from secondary school. We are affirming that you are prepared physically to face the hurdles of the society.

You have been taught how to use the hand to usefully benefit yourselves and the society.
You have been provided with an education that has armed you with critical academic competence and a unique spirit of honesty and hard work that is second to none. It won’t’ be long before you realize it, whether you are moving from here to further your studies; which is my earnest desire for each of you, or you are going into the job market, people will surely spot you out of every group unless you forget what you have been taught and what you have been through here.
My merited graduating students, honesty and industrious which has carried you thus far pays.
You are groomed to be different; you should make that exit.  As graduating students of college of science, you have a mandate to strive to and sustain the urge to excel which has already been inculcated in your subconscious and conscious mind while you were a student here. More so, you shall always remember that in college of science, you have been trained to aim at higher heights and push the limits at silence, to achieve excellence and more excellence and aim always at more and more excellence. The top shall always be your target. Never  believe that failure does not exit, they do, its man’s closet friend, fight it and you shall succeed. Having been nurtured in co-science, you have the full mandate to go out and shine, shine the light to the world around you, where you are so that people can see the co-science uniqueness in you. You should see your training here as one which gives you the impetus to shine so that you can impact the society for positive change but not (Buhari’s change). As a graduate of co-science, always be mindful of the truth and that truth shall move you to the top. Always keep in your view that you are not a half-measure person; You are a full excellent measure person; You are a person made to always reach for the highest goals. Ladies/gentlemen, do not ever believe in ”I can’t”. If you try and fail, keep trying until you achieve it. Never give-up on your plans because success is never picked along the road, you must work for it. Working for it demands commitment and promise yourself never to give up until you break down mountains and hills that shield success away from you. Know these, the road to excellence is not a smooth road and it has never been and may not be, hence, you must invite God to Grace you commitment.
When you were a student here, we have taught you the ideals of sound education and informed you on how to play the academic and societal game fairly and in the right spirit of good sportsmanship, we have taught you how to pass your examination perfectly. Never you venture into evil act, its reward is death, be warned.  As you leave, remember your school, remember  your students, remember your teachers and never fail to remember Mr Godwayne(Never you becomes wayward) As  you are going out to the large world, a world where  I and Mr. Ubong will not be there to tell “Stop that”, please be wise in your decision, never keep bad company. Remember that you will give account for whatever you do. Therefore always look before you leap so that you will never leap into fire.
As we bid you farewell, it is with a mixed feeling of joy that you are moving forward and pain that i will be missing some of my friends like Miracle, Joanna, Ikakke, Comfort ,David, Favour, Etimbuk, Deborah, Asaha, Sherry B, Full Time, Ekemini, victor, utibe and all my faithful boys Etc as well as missing some special things you do ,the time we share together but farewell we must bid you!
We the staff of this great citadel of learning, have done the best we can as human beings to give you what we believes is one of the best that a secondary school can give to her students. You have been prepared reasonably to face the challenges of life after secondary school, the ball is now on your court, play it well
To the Parents of the Graduants
Today, we are returning these young adults to you. Six years ago, you sent them to us at approximately 9-12 years old, today, we are sending them to you as grow up ones; 16-20 years old. As they leave this school to return to you, preparing to claim further academic heights, please (Mum/Dad/Guardians) take pains to see the work that have been done with them and continue from where we stopped. God will do the rest.
Conclusion
The management, the principals, the staff, parents of the graduating students, ladies and gentlemen, we present to you the fruits of college of science.
Thanks for responding to our invitation. We pray that our Good God will grant you protection and his blessing will follow you all the way in Jesus’s name.
Welcome!
Mr. Godwayne Essien
