The singer will play Zoe Saldana's brother in Ben Affleck's next film.
Miguel
will take a break from churning out sexy love ballads to sharpen his
Hollywood game. The Grammy-winning R&B singer will join the cast of Ben Affleck’s Prohibition-era crime drama Live by Night, Deadline.com reports.
Based on Dennis Lehane’s novel of the same name, the film tells the story of Joe Coughlin (Affleck), a Boston police captain’s son who rises through the ranks of the criminal underworld. Miguel will play Esteban, the brother of a woman (Zoe Saldana) Coughlin crosses paths with in Tampa.
Sienna Miller, Elle Fanning and Chris Messina round out the cast.
This will be Miguel's major acting debut, though he has been attached to various projects over the years. Earlier this year, he was attached to star in an untitled romantic drama produced by John Legend.
Maybe this is the start of Miguel's EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) journey? We'll have to wait and see.
