CAF fines Etoile $45,000 for violent conduct against Enyimba

Caf-logo-new-300x271.jpgTHE Confederation of African Football (CAF) has slammed a $45,000 fine on Tunisian club, Etiole du Sahel, over her violent conduct against Enyimba of Nigeria during the second leg third round clash of this year’s CAF Champions League.

Etoile was also ordered to play two of her continental matches behind closed doors.
CAF announced the decision, among many others, in a press release made available to the media yesterday, one week after her disciplinary committee met in Cairo, Egypt.
According to CAF, missiles and flares were thrown on the pitch by Etoile supporters, while Enyimba players and officials could not reach the dressing room at half-time.
It would be recalled that Enyimba players and officials were restricted to the field after overcoming the Tunisians via penalty shoot out in Souse.
Etoile’s Vice-President, Jilel Krifa, was also fined $5,000 and suspended for four matches for insulting the referee during the club’s Confederation Cup match with Kawkab.
Another $5,000 fine was given to Etoile for the throwing of flares and use of lasers during another Confederation Cup match against FUS Rabat.
Enyimba lost the Tunisia leg of the tie 3-0 for a 3-3 aggregate score but the Nigerians won the penalty shootout to qualify for the group stages of this year’s Champions League.
